Spring and autumn
ONMT identifies spring and autumn as favourable times for exploring the southern desert. These seasons are a useful starting point for planning a mixed city, valley and desert journey.
Summer
Plan around heat, choose cooler parts of the day and ask activity providers how routes change. Do not assume an excursion operates unchanged in high temperatures.
Winter
Bring layers for cool evenings and check mountain conditions before crossings. The weather in the Atlas can differ sharply from conditions in town.
Pack for variety
Closed shoes, sun protection, a refillable bottle and layers are useful foundations. Ask your guide for a route-specific packing list.
