Chigaga or Chebbi?
Erg Chigaga is approached through the southern route towards M’Hamid; Erg Chebbi is near Merzouga on a different eastern circuit. Neither should be treated as an interchangeable short outing from Ouarzazate.
Give it time
Choose the length of the trip around meaningful stops and time at the destination. An advertised short circuit may involve substantial transfers.
Ask for a written itinerary
Confirm camp location, sleeping arrangements, transport, food, water, guide, activities, cancellation terms and the plan for weather disruptions.
Off-road travel
Use an experienced local operator and suitable transport. Do not follow an unverified digital shortcut into remote terrain.
