A PLACE TO TAKE YOUR TIME

A southern valley town that connects oasis life with the onward road towards M’Hamid.

30.331° N / 5.838° W

Zagora is a useful base in the Drâa corridor, with palm groves and historic settlement around it. Its desert associations do not mean that the great dune fields sit in the town itself. Tamegroute, Tinfou and the road to M’Hamid are separate onward visits.

What to see

The oasis surroundings, Amzrou quarter and Jbel Zagora landscape.

What to do

Arrange a local walk and a visit to Tamegroute’s pottery workshops, subject to their welcome and opening.

Practical information

Confirm current access, opening arrangements and local conditions before travelling. Use local guides for unfamiliar paths; respect private homes, cultivated land and requests about photography. Accommodation and dining links may refer to your Ouarzazate base or an onward stop; check the address on each listing.

Getting here

Continue south along the Drâa from Agdz. For Erg Chegaga, plan additional travel beyond M’Hamid with a local operator.
